Meet The Team

Alex

Alex has been training in the Martial Arts for over 20 years and was a full time Jeet Kune Do/Kali/MMA instructor for 10 years. He is a qualified instructor in Jeet Kune Do Concepts. He has vast experience in teaching students of all ages and is very passionate in making sure all students feel welcome. He also has a degree in Sports Science and Management BSc (Hons) and is a qualified gym instructor.

Over the years Alex has trained with many of the world's best Martial Artists including Guro Dan Inosanto, Sifu Rick Young, Guru Bob Breen, Ian and Paul Kelly, Professor Victor Estima and Sensei Erik Paulson. Whilst at University in Nottingham Alex trained with Professional Boxing Coach Tommy Thompson for 3 years.

Oli

Oli has been training in Martial Arts for over 20 years, beginning his journey at just 6 years old — the same age he first met Alex. From day one, his dedication and passion for training stood out.

At only 13 years old, Oli began coaching Martial Arts and is passionate about supporting both children and adults, and he has first-hand experience of the positive impact martial arts can have on fitness, confidence, discipline, and mental health.

In recent years, Oli has also worked alongside Dr Ged Lombard with Wiltshire/Swindon and Nottingham Council, helping children and young adults with challenging behaviours use martial arts as a vehicle for personal development and positive reintegration into society.

Dave

Dave brings a wealth of experience from a successful career in customer service and sales. His passion for supporting people and delivering an outstanding experience for every student and family makes him an invaluable part of the Legacy team. Dave's Martial Arts journey began at the age of seven with Judo before later focusing on weight training, He also studied Wado-Ryu Karate in his 20's before returned to Martial Arts when he started training with Alex.

Dave's connection to Legacy actually began before the academy officially existed. In 2018, he approached Alex for help after his nephew, Ayman, was being bullied at school. Alex began teaching Ayman from Dave's living room, helping him build not only his Martial Arts skills but, more importantly, his confidence and self-belief. Ayman would become Legacy's very first student, making Dave's family a part of Legacy's story from the very beginning.

Today, Dave combines his business expertise with his passion for Martial Arts to help students achieve their goals and ensure every member of the Legacy family feels welcomed, supported, and inspired throughout their journey.

Sebastian

Sebastian developed a love for martial arts in his early years, training in traditional forms as a child and later transitioning to mixed martial arts as an adult. Once he began training under the guidance of Alex and Elaina he became fully invested in learning each movement and skill with great precision. Sebastian now trains as frequently as possible, seeking to enhance not only his technique but also his overall understanding of the art.

Since joining our team, he has been eager to share his passion for Martial Arts by teaching and mentoring the next generation of students. He started as a coach and has now taken on the role of Programme Manager, responsible for providing introductions and private lessons to prospective members.

Roxy

Roxy is a very much loved member of the Legacy Team. She is nervous when she first meets you but that's nothing a good belly rub can't fix! She loves meeting all the students and playing fetch with the ball before class. If you do want to say hello she loves a tickle under her chin.

While you are all working hard in class she will put herself away in bed and have a sleep so as to not distract you from your training.

All of our team are fully qualified in the Martial Arts they teach, First Aid trained, DBS Checked and Insured for the peace of mind of both our students and ourselves. Allowing us to teach you what we love in a safe and friendly environment!
